About Our Worship

Jesus was asked one time about which form of worship was proper.  He responded that it is not any particular tradition that has the “right” way of worship, but rather worship is an expression of the heart. He said, the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks (John 4:23).  His point was that it should not be mere ritual, but a sincere expression of your heart to God!

At Jubilee, we attempt to pattern our worship after clear examples of Scripture, while at the same time keeping it culturally relevant.  While to some, our style may be a radical departure from their normal church experience, we believe it is only natural to praise the Lord using the same type of music you would normally listen to!

At Jubilee, while you may observe people participating in various expressions of worship, by no means should you feel obligated to join them.  You may feel free to sit and worship as you prefer.

Here are some different expressions of worship you may observe in our services:

Variety of Instruments

Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet...with the harp and lyre...with the strings and flute...with the clash of cymbals... (Psalm 150:3-5).

Clapping Hands and Joyful Shouting

Clap your hands... shout to God with cries of joy (Psalm 47:1).

Uplifted Hands

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord (Psalm 134:2).

Making Melody and Singing in Tongues

Singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord  (Eph 5:19).

I will sing with my spirit [in tongues], but I will also sing with my mind (1 Cor 14:15).

Because we believe that God inhabits the praises of his people (Psalm 22:3), we expect that as we worship we will experience his manifest presence.  This means we can expect him to minister to the needs of people consistent with the gifts and manifestations of the Spirit detailed in 1 Corinthians 12.  God loves people, and he hasn’t lost his power.

In fact, if we do not experience the presence of the Holy Spirit, we will feel we got ripped off!  Church is not a museum where we explore what God used to do; it is a place where we expect to encounter him in a very real way.
